Ceyhinz Link International Inc. / RIOCOCO Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd has a rich history of social responsibility that has grown and evolved to meet the complexities of today’s business world and the challenges of the global society. One of our main aims is to help the rural and unemployed people in Sri Lanka. It means investing in and enriching our communities around our production facilities and other rural areas in Sri Lanka. Our commitment to social responsibility is as strong today as it was when our company was founded. We are proud of our progress and commitments, but there is still much we can do for the communities.
Based on the heritage and our business, we have chosen to focus on the following areas:
- Assisting our employees and their families
- Helping orphan children, disabled soldiers, and rural school projects;
- Improving opportunities to share the wealth of the company with the broader community.
Projects
We support many different programs and endeavors. We support a variety of causes through financial donations and materials. We also encourage our employees to volunteer their time and talents to help the communities in which they live and work.
Riococo Sri Lanka Celebrated the World environmental day in style on 05th June 2019
We, Riococo (Sri Lanka) celebrated the World Environmental Day in style on 05th June 2019 in collaboration with Nabada Wewe primary school in Thalawa, Sri Lanka. During this event, Riococo donated dust bins and coconut/fruit plants. The Riococo Environment team explained the importance of protecting the water, plants and its benefits to the next generation, to the participants.
“MathakaWasthra Pooja” 2019
Easter Sunday was a horrifying day for Sri Lankan people. We lost 300 lives of innocent Sri Lankans, foreign visitors, relatives and friends of the staff of RIOCOCO due to the bombing in churches and hotels in Sri Lanka. We Riococo value their lives and we are sorry for what happened to our country. 7 Buddhist monks visited RIOCOCO’s Head Office premises in Sri Lanka and conducted the ceremony. So we held a memorial service with “MathakaWasthraPooja” and ceremony of pouring of water into a bowl from a jug until it overflows known as ‘Pen Wedeema” remembering everyone who left this earth so soon. May their souls Rest In Peace!
RIOCOCO delivered school books to School Children on 1st January 2019
RIOCOCO in collaboration with Shan Halamba Foundation delivered schools books to the employees’ children who attend to area schools. This is an annual event and we have been doing this since 2008. We give school books to all our employees children until they leave the school education. Our aim is to promotes literacy in the country through helping children, which helps to enhance their education to mark a brighter future.
World environment day Riococo team 2018
We, the Riococo Sri Lanka Celebrated the World environmental day in style on 05th June 2018 in collaboration with Ganthiriyawa MahaWidyalaya. During this event, Riococo donated dust bins for schools to manage their waste with less environment impact.
Also the importance of Waste Management and its benefits to the next generation were explained by the Riococo Environment team to the participants.
Children’s Welfare Initiatives by RIOCOCO Lanka (Pvt) Ltd on World Children’s Day 2018
To mark the world children’s day, Riococo has distributed stationery items to students of low income families and highly disadvantaged social backgrounds in Pothuwewa primary School. RIOCOCO always helps under privilege children in the areas, where our factories are located and it helps them to attend to their school work without any worries of buying school stationeries and burden to their under privilege parents.
World Children’s Day 2017 – Water filter installed for the use of children from “Nawinna” children’s orphanage
On October 01, 2017, we repaired a water filter installed for the use of children from “Nawinna” children’s orphanage situated in close proximity to the RIOCOCO Lanka factory premises. This water filter had remained dysfunctional and hence in disuse for more than 3 months and had posed a serious problem for the children looking for potable water.

On October 01, 2017, we donated a water filter plus a hand-wash unit to the children of Dambeliyadda primary school, a disadvantaged rural school with a population of some 150 students.

To mark the world children’s day, we gave away stationery items to the children of Pothuwewa primary school where there were many differently abled children from highly disadvantaged social backgrounds.

World Environment day – 2017
RIOCOCO Sri Lanka held an Environmental Day program in couple of schools in Kurunegala District with the help of the Central Environment Authority in Sri Lanka to make the students aware of the importance of protecting the nature around them. During the program, the officers of the Environment Authority explained to the teachers and the students in detail how to manage the solid waste and how to protect the environment for the sake of future generation.

On January 01st 2017, Riococo Lanka (Pvt) Ltd was donated school books and other necessary items to children of the employees of Riococo Lanka (Pvt) Ltd.
Donation of school items to children, who suffered from the flood
On May 05th 2016, Riococo Lanka (Pvt) Ltd was donated school items to children, who suffered from the recent flooding in Sri Lanka.
On 15th May 2016, Sri Lanka was suffered by a severe tropical storm that caused flooding and landslides in 22 districts out of 25 districts in the country and destroyed homes and also submerging entire villages. At least 104 people are died following this disaster; 99 people are still missing, the majority due to a landslide. An estimated 301,602 people have been affected by this disaster, including at least 21,484 people who remain displaced from their homes. Most of the school children of those areas have lost of their school books and all other items. So, Riococo Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, was determined to donate school items to school children, who suffered from the flooding.
RIOCOCO Builds a ‘Giman Piyasa’for Katupotha Hospital
Fulfilling a major requirement at Katupotha regional B hospital, a newly built Giman pyasa (resting hut) both for patients who come to receive treatments at the Out Patients Department(OPD) and who attend clinics and for visitors who come to see esidential patients at the hospital was declared open recently.
Riococo Lanka (Pvt) Ltd in Katupotha funded the new ‘Giman piyasa’as yet another of its social responsibility initiatives at a cost of Rs.400,000.00.
Mr. Susantha Shan Halamba, the company’s Chairman, graced the occasion. The ceremonial opening was attended by Rev.Piyarapane Sumangala thero, the chief prelate of Thelibewa Shri Shyalathalaramaya temple, Mr.T.M.C.N Bandara, the Chief Medical Officer and Hospital Staff, Mr. Sarath S. Rathnayake, Chairman- Hospital Development Committee, Mr. P. Jayalath, the committee secretary and some representatives from the committee along with a few representatives from Riococo management.
First crops in at Minamisoma Tomato Farm in Fukushima
RIOCOCO join hands with Kagome in Japan to help a greenhouse in Fukushima. Kagome has the division of Assisting to the recovery of the Tsunami areas. Collaboration with local people and supermarkets, Kagome has established this new location, 100% technically assisted by Kagome with the help of Rio Coco Tomato crops which are grown in RIOCOCO 100% organic starter blocks and grow bags. Minamisoma Fukko’s tomato farm will also provide a space for hands-on experience and for enhancing farm-management skills among community members, thereby contributing to the recovery and growth of the region’s agro-industry. Kagome will aim to support similar initiatives aimed at employment creation and economic recovery in areas affected by the disaster.
ENVIRONMENT PROGRAMME
Sponsoring tree plantation campaigns among schools in Kurunegala district to mark the World Environment Day (June 5)We distributed over 1000 plants among the schools in Kurunegala district with our firm resolve to contribute to the protection of our environment by reducing the emission of greenhouse gases.
MEDICAL CLINIC 2015 RIOCOCO
We decided to hold a medical clinic for all the officers in the staff and for all the laborers who are working at the factory. For this clinic, M.O.H officer, lady Doctor Yamuna, Narammala MOH Doctor, a few nurses, two public health officers and one midwife attended. In addition, three clerks also were present. They tested blood sugar, cholesterol level and blood pressure level of the workers. They identified some patients who are having some minor health problems and prescribed the necessary treatments. Finally the lady doctor had a seminar with all the participants and instructed how to keep the health condition of the individuals properly.

CSR project At Katupotha School
RIOCOCO Lanka Pvt Ltd started a new CSR project in the area schools. Now the raining season is approaching. We started tree planting programs in the area schools. Recently we conducted our first program @ Katupotha Primary School and we issued plants to the children to grow at their homes and to take care of them.
During this program, we will issue pamphlets to create an awareness regarding the tree planting and its uses, how the trees are saving us from heat and producing clean air to breathe. During each awareness program, we will distribute plants to area school children public to plant at their homes and to take care of them. We have a very good response on the awareness programs. We plan to work with more schools in the area to teach them about climate change, the importance of planting trees, conserving water and usage coir fiber in their gardens to improve the soil condition.

RIOCOCO donated books and school bags to these children with the Sri Lankan Air Force.
